Karen Nejdl was elected to the Board of Education in April 2009. Prior to her election, she served on the Facilities Review Committee in 2007 and has actively participated in the many volunteer opportunities at her children's schools.

Karen is a longtime resident of Mount Prospect and a District 57 alumni. After graduating from Prospect High School in 1984, she received a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Elmhurst College in 1988 and then a Master's in Public Administration from Roosevelt University in 1999. She currently is employed by Advocate Lutheran General Hospital as a nurse on the cardiac telemetry unit. Within her time as a nurse, she also worked in the areas of research and management.

Karen and her husband, Bruce, have three children: Jeff, a District 57 alumni and Katie and Matt both current District 57 students.

Karen enjoys playing handbells at St. Peter Lutheran Church, her years as a Girl Scout leader, and traveling with her family.
